Technical Education is one of the most significant components of Human Resource Development spectrum with great potential for adding value to products and services for contributing to the National economy and for improving the quality of life of the people. In reorganization of the importance of this sector, Haldia Institute of Technology started in 1996 under the patronage of Indian centre for Advancement of Research and Education ICARE), Haldia as the first self financing and Government Aided Degree Engineering Institute with three U.G. courses namely chemical Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering and applied Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering to impart quality Engineering education to the students.

But to cope with the technological revolution that occurred in last three decades, HIT is producing new type of work force by conducting B. Tech courses in Twelve engineering disciplines, five M. Tech courses and two Post Graduate Programme (MBA & MCA).

The name and fame of an Institute is always well replicated by the available R & D facilities / activities in the Institute. In this context I like to state that HIT is running by leaps and bound in the area of R & D by bringing Research Projects from AICTE, DST, DBT, UGC and from other organizations. India is regarded as the third largest technical manpower, the quality and the output of this manpower must be as per international standard. Keeping it in mind HIT is producing a large number of qualified engineers in core engineering, IT sector and life science, to contribute to society through production and satisfactory engineering carrier such as innovators, decision — makers and leaders in the global economy of the 21st century.

I strongly believe the students desiring to pursue B. Tech., M.Tech. MBA and MCA Programme will enjoy all excellent facilities of the institute to develop themselves as per industries requirements & research activities. I also sincerely welcome aspirants for admission to HIT & hope that their stay in the institute will be fruitful & memorable. The institute believes in marching together for achieving excellence.
